Staffing levels of radiological physicists in according to EFOMP recommendation

EFOMP policy statement No. 7, which was passed in 1997, deals with staffing levels of medical physicists in particular department with regard to instrumentation and number of registered patients per year.

 

CAMP subscribes with EFOMP recommendation and is going to promote it all over the Czech Republic.

 

Following minimum numbers of total staff* and radiological physicists** in the Czech Republic were estimated in accordance to EFOMP recommendation and health statistics ÚZIS 2005, whose data issue from 2004. Working hours were estimated in three branches of radiological physics and radiation protection.

 

Radiotherapy (RT)

Total staff: 213

Radiological physicists within total staff: 88

 

Nuclear medicine (NM)

Total staff:  70

Radiological physicists within total staff: 34

 

Diagnostic radiology (DR)

Total staff: 127

Radiological physicists within total staff: 25

 

Radiation protection (RP)

Total staff:  49

Radiological physicists within total staff: 19

 

Following figure contents minimum working hours of total staff and radiological physicists in according to ÚZIS statistic from 2005. Numbers are divided into particular regions and branches of radiological physics.

*Total staff include clinical radiological physicist with specialized qualification, radiological physicist, radiological technician, clinical engineer with specialized qualification, biomedical engineer, clinical technician with specialized qualification, biomedical technician, or another qualified person, who is defined accordance to Low No. 96/2004 Coll.  

**Radiological physicist has specialized qualification (in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, or diagnostic radiology) in accordance with Low No. 96/2004 Coll.  

 

Actual personal staff in the Czech Republic is not available, because of temporary situation, which was established in accordance with Low No. 96/2004 Coll. and which is current until 1st of April 2006. Then, certificate and registration will be required.
